In January, family support staff attended Flip-It: Flipping the Challenging Behavior, a two-part training session led by instructors from DIEEC (DE Institute for Excellence in Early Childhood) who are associated with UD and the Department of Education. Participants learned the four-step process for children to identify feelings, learn healthy limits, learn self-control, and choose socially responsible actions — all while maintaining a positive reaction. The four steps are embodied in the FLIP IT mnemonic which stands for F – Feelings, L – Limits, I – Inquiries, and P – Prompts. The training was very interactive, and the group seemed to really enjoy it!
