During our remote status, we’ve continued to have virtual team meetings/case conferences twice a month since mid-March. As September approached, we recognized that we had become COVID-tired and needed to switch things up a little.

Nurse and family virtual meeting

Our team meeting on October 21, 2020, was transformed into a Pajamas, Pumpkins, and Prevention of Smoking theme. Yes, we showed up for our virtual team meeting dressed appropriately in pajamas/comfortable clothing. Pumpkins (real or plastic) and carving or painting supplies had been delivered to each member of the team so that all would be able to participate. We were even joined by a beautiful young pirate, who helped her mom paint their pumpkin (since she was out of school that day). I know we painted and chatted for close to an hour. Later, we studied our Tobacco Grant Deliverables already submitted in July and focused on unmet deliverables. At the conclusion of our discussion, we had identified clients who met the criteria for submission in future months. (Zakiya Bakari-Griffin keeps us on task with our monthly Tobacco Contract Deliverables). It wasn’t just pajamas, pumpkins, and prevention of smoking education — it was productive.
