Collage of pictures from Glasgow ParkApproximately 30 people came together at Glasgow Park on Saturday, April 11, for a joyful spring gathering filled with laughter, connection, and sunshine. Children, parents, grandparents, family friends, and several Healthy Families Delaware staff members and their families enjoyed a relaxing day celebrating the new season, soaking up the warm weather, and getting to know one another.

This event grew out of virtual parent group meetings that began in the fall of 2025. These meetings were created to bring together parents of children under age 3 and provide opportunities to build connections and participate in activities that support parent-child interaction and bonding. Parents and staff spent time reading stories, singing songs, completing crafts and projects, listening to guest speakers, and sharing conversations about their common interests. After several online meetings, participating parents expressed interest in meeting in person once the weather improved.

A date, time, and central location were selected, and families eagerly accepted the invitation to gather at the park. The weather turned out to be beautiful. Drinks and snacks were provided (🌟 thank you, CFF development staff!), and by all accounts, a great time was had by most who attended. Children ran, played, and explored before heading home tired and smiling, proudly carrying a flower craft, a book, and even a vintage Furby.

The fun caught the attention of other families visiting the park, several of whom stopped by to ask about Healthy Families Delaware. This provided staff and parents with a wonderful opportunity to share information and promote the program.

Thanks to the incredible turnout and the excitement around connecting with other parents, another in-person outing is already being planned for late summer or early fall. If this first gathering was any indication, even more fun and meaningful connections are on the way.
