Program spotlight: Nurse Family Partnership
Share:
Nurse Family Partnership uses specially trained nurses to visit first-time pregnant women who are low-income. In Delaware, the program is offered by Children and Families First. Low-income women who are less than 28 weeks pregnant and who are pregnant with their first child are eligible for this service. A nurse will provide home visits regularly throughout the pregnancy, up until the baby turns age two.
The nurse home visitor will help mom:
- Have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby
- Become better at parenting
- Make their home a safe place for the baby to live and play
- Get referrals for health care, child care, and other support services in the community
- Find ways to continue their education and develop job skills
- Set goals for their family’s future and find ways to help them reach them
