HOME VISITING: Scheduling well-baby visits

Share:

The first two years of your baby’s life are important. Keep your baby happy and healthy by going to well-baby visits. A well-baby visit lets you know how your baby is growing and developing. These visits will happen every 2-3 months. A Home Visitor can help you schedule and prepare for these important visits.

If you’re worried about scheduling a well-baby visit, a Home Visitor can help! The Home Visiting program is when you have a nurse or parent support specialist who is dedicated to helping you and your family thrive. The program is free of charge and the visits are relaxed, easy to schedule and designed to meet the needs of you and your family. Home Visitors can help with baby proofing your home or apartment, offer breastfeeding tips, and helping you schedule well-baby visits!

Your baby should have regular visits with their healthcare provider. Plan your first visit when your baby is a few weeks old. You should meet with your baby’s healthcare provider every 2 to 3 months.  Your healthcare provider or Home Visitor will help you set a schedule. Make sure you follow it. It’s important to monitor the health of your baby.

There are many things that happen during a well-baby visit. Your healthcare provider will examine your baby from head to toe. They will chart your baby’s growth. They will keep a record of their height and weight. Your provider will ask if your baby is reaching his or her milestones. They will talk to you about breastfeeding and taking vitamins. They will talk to you about different vaccinations your baby needs to stay healthy.

These visits are when you want to talk to your healthcare provider about any concerns you might have. You should feel safe talking to your healthcare provider. Make sure you know how to contact your healthcare provider. You want their contact information so you can call or email them if something is wrong. If you ever have a question, just ask it! Don’t feel scared or silly. Your healthcare provider is there to make sure you and your baby thrive!
