The thought of becoming a new parent brings many emotions. You are excited about all the good moments you are going to have with little one. You are anxious about the arrival. You are scared. No one ever taught you how to care for a baby. You are worried about providing for your child and your partner. The list goes on. Fatherhood can be challenging at times. However, dads make a difference in a child’s life. That is a reward worth a million.

There is a program to help you and your partner as she goes through pregnancy and birth. The Home Visitor program, supported by Delaware Thrives, is here to help you, and families like yours, by offering guidance and support. As a new dad, you will learn ways to become involved in your child’s life. You can help your child grow and learn. Home visiting programs help new dads find ways to teach their child. Activities and time spent with a child helps them grow.

Your home visitor will also talk with you about child safety, specifically how to create a safe sleep environment. Your home visitor will talk with you about improving communication between you and your partner.  You and your partner will build a trusting relationship with your assigned home visitor. Feel free to ask them questions any time, every step of the way.

If you are a new dad, or know someone who recently became a dad, share these success stories from Nurse Family Partnership.
