My success story is about a Spanish-speaking client who was denied food benefits, Medicaid, and purchase of care. She was upset because, by law, she should have received Medicaid for a year after giving birth. When I called social services, the representative was uncooperative and gave false information. I asked to speak to her manager, who confirmed that my client qualified for Medicaid and advised us to visit the Hudson Center to resolve the issue.

On June 18, 2024, my client and I went to the social services office. The caseworker there was helpful once I explained the situation. My client provided her documents, correcting the state’s information. She and her husband, along with their baby, were approved for Medicaid as well as food benefits and purchase of care.

My client was overjoyed and said, “I don’t know how I can pay you back. Thank you so much for everything.” Her words touched my heart. I told her I had been in her shoes and reminded her to never give up and to fight for herself. I’m glad I could advocate for her.
