From Challenges to Triumph: A DECC PAT Family’s Inspiring Story

AJ and her daughter, Ah’Mari, have been enrolled in the Parents as Teachers program since October 2023. AJ inspires us daily with her resilience and determination to achieve her goals and overcome challenges in her path.

AJ shared, “Ever since being part of Parents as Teachers, I’ve learned so many new things — not only about being a new mother but about myself as well. Every goal I’ve set for my daughter and myself, I’ve achieved with PAT by my side! I am forever grateful!”

Over the past year, AJ has reached incredible milestones, including securing housing and moving into her first apartment; earning her high school diploma; enrolling Ah’Mari in a high-quality childcare center; and starting college at Del Tech, majoring in criminal justice. She stays focused, constantly working to overcome obstacles to create the life she wants for herself and Ah’Mari.

The DECC PAT staff are honored to be part of her journey and are very proud of AJ’s hard work to achieve her goals. They can’t wait to see where she goes next!
