Providing pregnant moms with prenatal and postpartum support is critical for better maternal health.

Black Mothers in Power (BMP)

Black Mothers in Power (BMP) is an organization dedicated to ending astronomically high mortality and morbidity rates among Black mothers and babies. BMP is working to build awareness around this epidemic, developing inclusive community programs, and creating and challenging policies and regulations. BMP began as a grassroots-issue campaign in September 2019 at Network Delaware and Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League.

Parent Information Center (PIC) of Delaware

PIC provides families of children, with and without disabilities, with information, education, and support to become lifelong advocates in their child’s education. PIC also addresses maternal and infant health disparities in communities of color, providing families with resources and advocacy training. PIC first opened its doors in 1983 and today provides guidance for more than 90,000 families.

DHMIC Doula Workgroup Lead

Delaware Healthy Mother & Infant Consortium (DHMIC) Doula Work Group pursues the health of women, infants, and families through a lifecourse approach. Lifecourse is a way of thinking and doing. DHMIC’s approach includes planning WITH the community as well as thinking holistically about women’s health and addressing intergenerational health. We support a continuum of services promoting optimal health from birth throughout the lifespan, from one generation to the next.
