Rooted in Justice and Joy: Honoring 10 Years of Collective Action for Black Maternal Health
Black Maternal Health Week | April 11–17, 2026
Celebrate a decade of community leadership and advocacy advancing equity for Black mothers and families. Together, we will create a future where Black mothers, babies, and communities thrive.
Rooted in Justice & Joy
The 2026 Black Maternal Health Week theme, “Rooted in Justice & Joy,” centers care, healing, and equity for Black Mamas and birthing people. It honors the strength and resilience of Black-led maternal and reproductive health efforts that uplift families and communities, while also recognizing the ongoing impact of systemic oppression and health inequities. This theme calls us to envision and build a future grounded in restoration, justice, and joy.
As you share and engage, use the hashtag #BMHW26 on social media to amplify this message and uplift the voices leading this work. This week is about collective action—supporting Black community-based organizations, advocating for change, and working together to create lasting, meaningful improvements in Black maternal health.
