Why were the Home Visiting Programs created?

Just like you, we want the best for your baby and all of Delaware’s babies. That’s why we want to provide you with the best resources possible to help you give your baby the best care! Delaware wants to offer you a free program to help you get your baby off on the right foot. Your health as a parent and your baby’s health are important to us. Home Visiting programs have been implemented nationwide and we want you to take advantage of Delaware’s program, so OUR babies and children THRIVE.

So why were these programs created?Delaware Home Visiting
The Home Visiting programs in all states were created to improve health and developmental outcomes for young children. Some more immediate benefits, however, include parents being able to simply ask questions about breastfeeding, sleeping habits, and any other topics that parents face with newborn babies. Specific improvements and outcomes for families who take advantage of this opportunity and participate in a Home Visiting program can include the following:

  1. Overall improvements in maternal postpartum health and newborn/infant health
  2. Prevention of infant/child injuries and emergency room visits
  3. General improvement in school readiness for the young child

You get to spend some one-on-one time with your Home Visitor  to ask any questions about your baby’s care that you want, and get information about all sorts of other resources that are offered in your area. These are just some of the  benefits of Home Visiting programs and we encourage you to use this to give your baby the opportunity to THRIVE! Some moms that have used this program have spoken about their experiences and what they liked about it!
